Trickery

Apparently Egyptian taxi drivers think they can rook Americans into paying more than they should. Apparently they are right. Lesson learned: get out of the car before paying, and walk away quickly.

Please explain how the taxi drivers try to "rook" Americans out of money. Did they overcharge you or what?

basically, they assume that you don't know how much various trips should cost, so they propose extremely inflated prices and they try to intimidate you by arguing very vehemently. but i've been told that shouting doesn't necessarily imply anger, so if you know what something should cost, you have to stick to your guns and really insist.
