"Islamic Fervor"

Here is a New York Times article discussing the poor job market facing young Egyptians today and the effects it has on their prospects for marriage and a viable future in the community. It explains how these problems have propelled Egypt's youth toward conservative Islam as an outlet for their frustrations and how the government is reacting to this recent trend. The arcticle appeared in the Times a couple weeks ago, but I just got around to reading and thought you might be curious as well.

Cheers!

I already tried to leave a comment once before but didn't succeed. I am not sure that I am filling out all the right forms with the right words, but that's because i am 227 years old at least and don't understand it all.
Anyway, if this gets through, I think you look great on the camel, born to ride so to speak, in the tradition of your parents I am sure.
So many experiences, so much to see and understand. Isn't it great?
Jo and i send our best wishes to you for many more great days (not necessarily easy ones, but great nevertheless).

Hi Uncle Frank!
It's so nice to hear from you. I appreciate your attempts at finagling Blogger into cooperating. Apparently it can be quite the tricky feat. In the future, if you'd like to say hello via email, you can always reach me at amf400@nyu.edu.
As you said, the opportunities to experience new things here (and old things with a slightly different twist) seem limitless. I am just trying to take in as much as possible. I can say one thing, my respect for teaching has grown tremendously since my first couple attempts at teaching English here.
Thank you for the well wishes, sometimes the extra vote of confidence and support goes a long way.
I hope this note finds you and Aunt Jo well, too.
